IKM Testing inspects Equinor FPSO “Johan Castberg” with Scout 137 Drone System
Equinor’s “Johan Castberg” FPSO is a large state-of-the-art offshore production unit destined to operate at the Johan Castberg field in the Barents Sea. IKM Testing conducted final inspection of the newly built vessel’s tank top using the Scout 137 Drone System from ScoutDI.
The job was partly during cold winter days in a yard at Stord, Norway. Two inspectors covered the 3500m2 tank top area working on shift, comfortably seated on the tank floor.
Proper final inspection of a huge commission project like Johan Castberg requires several revisits and many inspection hours. This inspection relied on the Scout 137 Drone System’s unlimited flight time to cover the vast FPSO, which is expected to operate in harsh Arctic conditions for 30 years.
